Solomon Kane (Request review)

We received our second request review and although it's from the same guy, it's good to know that someone follows and appreciates our work.

Okay, the thing with this one is that it lacks that essential "moving" factor. It certainly is a fun movie to watch, no doubt about it. But, they really should have put a bit more atmosphere into it, since it is somewhat set in The Middle Ages. They perfectly captured the omnipresence of darkness, grimness and that ghastly environment, but failed to display the epic side of sword wielding and battle shouts. However, I am willing to forget all of that because I know that, since its creation, Solomon Kane is meant to be an overall dark and gloomy character.

When it comes to acting, I believe that it didn't quite reach its full potential. There was very little space for artistic improvements and improvisation, but Rome's Mark Anthony held his part quite well. And, frankly, I couldn't imagine anyone, but James Purefoy in the title role. Oh, and Jason Flemyng was spooky as fuck!

To conclude, a lot of holes should have been filled in this blackened experience. And that CGI could have been done a lot better. With all these oversights, it turned out to be just a bit better than mediocre.

6 out of 10.
