The Ward should have stayed at the asylum.

It's not uncommon that you see famous and once adored faces crumble like towers of sand. The same, I believe, happened or is bound to happen after this film to John Carpenter. The master of horror films and creator of the slasher genre himself has, in my opinion, hit rock bottom. And if he doesn't create something remarkable, to make up for this debacle, soon - he is doomed.

My best guess is that he saw or heard the idea of Sucker Punch and thought that putting girls in an asylum is a great idea. Add a bit of delusion, ridiculous sudden shock scenes à la Scream, a veil of mystery all-around, mix it all up and voilà! Well, guess what Carpy - you fucked up. Fucked up big time.

The story is unrelated, not remotely interesting, scene transitions are horrific, acting is truly repulsive, sickening, disgusting, nauseating... Call it whatever the fuck you want, you won't get it wrong. The script and character lines are really unbelievable. It's like a C-class writer, director or whatever flunked his senior year ten times.

I wanted to write this review as calmly as I possibly could, but I just couldn't do it and I'm sorry. This film is an abomination.

3 out of 10.
