Sanctum could've done better.

Well, to be honest, I wrote this film off from the moment I saw its trailer. I did that for the sole reason of seeing James Cameron's name. And in my house, there is a general disliking of the man since that Avatar debacle. However, it turns out that he was just one of the producers and his name was just a tad overused for advertisement purposes. Can't say I blame them.

Anyway, as hard as it is to admit, the film is actually worth a watch. Maybe even two. The cast is an Australian/British cocktail and it did not quite show the necessary quality at the start of the film, but as it progressed - they kind of slipped into their comfort zones and delivered exactly what was needed for a survival genre film.

Now, in case you're wondering what makes it watch worthy then, I'll tell you... The photography! It is purely marvelous. The words to describe it are extremely hard to find. Then, you have these seat-gripping survival/death scenes which are oozing with realism and intensity making you frown with disgust.

To conclude, the film delivers a dose of betrayed loyalty, unbreakable bonds, misplaced trust, gruesome imagery and utterly amazing photography with somewhat weaker acting abilities.

It struggles, but in the end, takes 7 out of 10.
