I know it's kinda late for this one, but I was avoiding it for quite some time now because of the sheer presence of Keira Knightley. I find her acting and visual appearance truly appalling. I mean, who likes an aerobic to-the-brink toned out chick, with no meat on her whatsoever, who can't act? And those fringes aren't really helping her either.
However, this is a British film and I'm extremely weak to those thanks to the work of Guy Ritchie. If you're a devoted fan of these and you know this is a gangster movie, you pretty much know what to expect because, in essence, they are all the same. The thing with me is that I just can't get enough of them. And as you might suspected, I liked this one as well.
You already got my impressions on one cast member in the prologue. But, luckily, I can tell you that the others pulled the entire thing out of the mud. Colin Farrell truly nailed it with his dirty, badass and confused acting. Ray Winstone gave an excellent and frightening performance as well, playing one hell of a wicked mob boss. However, the biggest surprise was fucking David Thewlis who I haven't seen in ages (and in case you're wondering - no, I do not watch Harry Potter movies). He was a constant downer in the film, but he did so through superb acting.
All in all, the film will hold your attention fairly well and the story should satisfy you. Oh, and the ending will provide that moment of displeasing silence we all want from a movie. Be sure of that.
7 out of 10.
