You realize from the start that Keira's role is not the lead one and that comes as a relief. Also, you are somewhat confuzed from the beginning: boarding school where the first part of the movie takes place is in a retro style yet kids wear electronic bracelets in order to be traced. Hm....seemed like sf to me - maybe this movie will turn out to be an unexpected treat?
The jury is still out on that one.
Andrew Garfield and Carey Mulligan were a good choice and a plot concentrating on raising clone kids in order to be harvested for organs was not-so-outstreched as it might have initially appeared to be but......see, here it comes: clones exist in order to be donors three times after which they just die. There's a love triangle involved, naturally, and the Orwellian premise, in the end, fails being Orwellian.
I realized, later on, that it was based on a book - highely unlikely that I'll ever read it. The movie, apparently, covers pretty much everything from the book and the unsatisfactory ending leaves you feeling drained. The whole story is dark but did it really have to be so depressing? Grey, emotionless and empty.
Also, you are left with a question: why in hell did they not even try to run away?!
Overall, it's a 7 but once you see it, you really have no wish to rewatch it again. Ever.
