Whoa, a fifth installment. At first, I thought: Really?! Another one? But, as it turns out, this just might be a start of a different franchise altogether. Ten long years after the original one, Justin Lin managed to reignite the spark that rocketed this nitrous powered blockbuster in the first place.
However, hardcore fans of the original film will find themselves in a quandary whether this is still the film they so dearly loved. The reason for this is the transferred focus from the cars to a bit more complex story. You won't find much garage talk in this one, since this is a bonified heist film. Without revealing too much of the premise, it's basically about Dom, Mia and Brian seeking a quiet life away from trouble and US extradition laws. To accomplish this, they'll need to pull one last job. And to our joy, they brought a few friends along.
The acting is a bit tight and badass, but that just adds to the charm of this action packed, adrenaline boosting piece of film art. This kind of acting is most noticeable with the addition of Dwayne The Rock Johnson, as he represents thrill and action craving Hulk in the detective world. Trust me, you'll love him.
Naturally, as this is an action film, you'll encounter some scenes that defy the laws of simple physics. But, do yourself a favour and get passed those, because this film is one hell of a ride.
Good premise and a great story, interesting humour, nice cars, fast paced storytelling, tight acting, ridiculously good action and chase scenes, and many more.
Wrap your senses around this action sensation, and be sure to treat it as such.
