127 Hours is an excruciating experience.

Danny Boyle? 28 Days later... and maybe Trainspotting. That's about it. I know of no person who is actually a fan. The same goes for me, I just don't like the dude. However, as hard as it is to admit, it's hats down for this one.

The movie revolves around a guy who goes by the name of Aron Ralston. It's based on his life tale and his struggle for survival immediately after an accident that changed his life forever. And, you guessed it - it's based on a true story. Don't get me wrong, this isn't one of those boring text-book Bear Grylls survival stories. No. This one shows a gruesome battle with our ever-present inner demons, the hatred we have for ourselves, a revelation of all our life mistakes and their present haunting, even premonitions of our future selves. Agony, suffering, stupidity, solitude, surrender, determination, triumph or not - you be the judge.

Not wanting to reveal much, I'll pretty much leave it at that. But, know that this is an excellent piece of unconventional art which James Franco managed to pull off superbly.

I thought about giving it a nine, but I can't shake the "mehness" that is bestowed upon me by Mr. Boyle, so I'm giving it a real solid 8 out of 10.
