So, there I was, on a Saturday night, boring my ass off. Everybody's out and having fun, so even my cyber life is put to a halt. The movie world is standing still, and what do I do? I find a French movie. I know, but bear with me.
This one came out last year, but a good rip surfaced just now. And, for legal reasons, I just borrowed it - it wasn't and act of piracy. Anyway, this one comes from the producers of Taken and the lead role is played by Jean Reno.
The story is, roughly put, revolving around a mobster's revenge who is left for dead by his lifelong friend, who also happens to be a fellow mobster. Of course, there's family and friendship involved. Principles, moral and that sort of thing. All-around, a well selected number of elements superbly connected.
Also, I have to give props to the old-timer. He still has it in him. Watching him made me want to watch Ronin again, and I probably will since I suddenly opened up this craving for old school actors.
Oh, and one more thing - in my opinion, the French finally reconciled with the fact that they are a Muslim country. I mean, every single person in the film was Muslim and it wasn't even Muslim related. Way to go, I guess.
In conclusion, a great French mobster revenge flick which takes solid 7 out of 10, due to lack of something original that would make me want to stay in my seat a couple of minutes after the ending.
