Black Swan - wow!

First off, two things you need to know about me:

1. I wholeheartedly dislike Darren Aronofsky's opus as well as Natalie Portman's acting abilities

2. I am more inclined to thrashing than to admiring something

Having all that in mind, we can easily conclude that this review is going to hold some serious weight - I entered the movie realm of the Black Swan with a suitcase of prejudice and a whole load of determination to pause whenever and wherever.

Alas, it was not so.

One might erroneously think that this is a ballet movie, those pretentious pieces of so-called art that should be skipped together with your mom's (or grandmom's) monthly visits to the theatre.

Definately not so.

Black Swan might be Tchaikovsky (guaranteeing you pure drama), but it is also a thriller and at some stages, even horror. Got to admit, I was scared shitless during certain intervals (one of which was Winona Ryder's performance - no puns or sarcasm intended).

Vincent Cassel's English accent has worked its magic, not that one cares much. You're not even interested in that over-hyped lesbian scenes with Mila Kunis. At times, you get amazed at how brilliant Barbara Hershey is but, at the end of the day, it is all about Portman.

I'll admit it, just this once: after watching this movie, I think I might even re-evalute her (which does not mean that I am going to dedicate my days watching her previous performances). It's safe to say that she was absolutely brilliant in this one and, if I may, I predict an Oscar for both her and Aronofsky.

My weakness have always been the endings so I often judge a movie based on that one specific prerogative. This one is a 10 - trust me.

As a whole, Black Swan gets a 9 and my sincere recommendations.
