Megamind - not so mega after all.

It ain't Pixar. It ain't as hillarious as the trailer promised - one would argue that you get to see all the lols in it which makes it completely unnecessery for you to watch the whole movie.

Yet, it's fun without being funny. And it is always refreshing to see something that is not two and a half hours long (although, in the defence of this new Hollywood trend of making Gone with the Wind lengths of cinema experience, with Megamind I just can't see how it could have been prolonged to an hour and a half, not to mention two - it's 1h:25, get my drift?)

Anyways, Will Ferrell seals the deal: you can tell he's enjoying it. Viewer seriously starts to appreciate his comedic efforts and intonation, especially when you hear Brad Pitt in the same scene and you get to think - A list actor? Come on! If you cannot act, you cannot do voice-overs. It's that simple. On the bright side, Brad gets to spend all of 7 minutes in the movie so that's a huge plus.
Tina Fey is as good as ever and Jonah Hill irritatingly not - but that's a standard these days.

The plot has its ups and downs but Ferrell balances them nicely and, in the end, you're not pulling your hair out for watching it, you simply have no wish to see it twice. The fact that it's aimed at 9 to 12 year olds doesn't help with the dry, sarcastic humour we all got accustomed to (none of that here).

On a more sinister note, the ending in which you see Megamind dancing in triumph at a newfound love of his Metrocity inhabitants is creepy, to say the least. I mean, Michael Jackson song? Isn't the song called Bad? What was the baddest thing Jackson was accused of?
But, nah, he was acquited. What was I thinking?!

So, as was previously stated, nothing compares to Wall-E. On that note, this one is a 6.
