What the hell is the matter with you, Hollywood? Why in the name of all that fucking exists would you do a remake of a 2008 Swedish film? Two years apart? Really? The entire fucking cast of the original is still alive and well. Hell, they're probably still showing it to the fucking world, for fuck's sake.
Let me say it straight away - the film is good, but before you watch it, watch the original one titled Let The Right One In (Låt den rätte komma in). It's far more better, far more atmospheric, far more "realistic".
Now, the one in question... It's great. It's probably the best vampire related film I've ever seen (the original excluded). Without treading too much on the realm of the supernatural, the film shows the events and the atmosphere of the given surroundings. Very few effects as well, emphasizing the previously said. It is an excellent presentation of a story made up of uncontrollable urges, unthinkable acts, necessary sacrifices, forbidden friendships, and much more. Don't go rushing in expecting Blade-like vampires, Nosferatu's legacies and that sort of stuff. This one is a tough nut, and should be viewed by everyone (with a special reminder previously stated in the second paragraph).
Gruesome, yet beautiful. Incomprehensible, yet superb. This one takes 7 out of 10. It could have been an eight, however - fuck you, Hollywood.
